Art Cart
When I was a public school teacher, I bought this art cart from Michaels to go next to my desk. It always came in handy and it still does today. I transformed it into an art cart for my daughter and it works perfectly. You can organize your cart in a way that works best for you and your child. When you are organizing your art cart, make sure that you decide ahead of time whether or not you want to add items that involve adult supervision such as paint, glue, etc. You can always have a separate bin with your messier items that you keep out of reach of children. You can bring it out whenever you are going to be doing a project with them.
Kids Table
When my daughter turned two I wanted to get her a kids-sized table to play and eat at. I found this one on Amazon and it works perfectly for what I wanted. The white side of the tabletop is a dry-erase board and the black side is a chalkboard. It is also a sensory table as well! It comes with two bins and two stools. I currently have the stools in storage. For now, I have replaced them with a little chair that we already had. I think I might try out the stools once she turns 3.
Make It Your Own
Organize your cart in a way that best serves your family. Make your cart have a focus, whether it’s painting, coloring/drawing, creating, etc. You can even add in holiday themed supplies for every season and which them out. With my daughter only being 2 and a half I created a cart for her that has a little bit of everything in hopes that I can find what interests her the most.
Organize
Whether you choose to have your cart focus on one particular interest or have a little bit of everything in it, make sure that it’s organized so that your kids can find what they need without having to ask you. Bins are always great to help keep everything contained. Labels are also great to keep everything in its rightful place. Below are pictures of the beginning stages of me organizing her cart. I didn’t have a lot of bins when put her cart together. I am on the hunt for simple clear bins. I also have labels below that I will be adding to her cart to help her keep it organized. Picture labels with words are perfect for your little ones who aren’t reading yet.
