How to Throw a Party Animal Birthday Party
For my daughters second birthday, I decided to throw her a party animal themed birthday party. She loves all animals and I knew she would be full of joy seeing animals all throughout her house.
Decor
When I started looking for decorations, I was struggling to find decor that included all animals. Most of the decorations that I was seeing only included safari animals. I was able to find everything for her party from Amazon and Walmart.
Balloon Arch
Before my daughters first birthday I decided that I wanted to make a balloon arch for as many birthdays as she would let me. For her second birthday, I decided to go with a pastel balloon arch and I think it turned out great! I was gifted an electric air balloon pump and it made the whole process a breeze! She absolutely loved her balloons. The best part about making a balloon arch is that you can make ahead of time and not have to worry about it on party day. Not only that, but they can last for months. I always feel bad destroying it right after her birthday so I usually wait at least a month before I tear it down.
Cake
I wanted to make her a homemade cake for her party. I made a vanilla cake recipe that I found on Pinterest. I used 3 6″ round cake pans to make the cake. Her party was on the smaller side (only grandparents), so a 6″ cake was perfect. For the frosting, I made a vanilla Swiss meringue butter cream recipe that I also found on Pinterest. Swiss meringue is definitely a harder frosting to make, but I enjoyed the challenge. I wanted to made it because it is not as sweet as an American butter cream. I decorated the cake with pastel sprinkles(naturally colored), safari animal figurines, woodland animal figurines and a gold number candle. For an extra touch I made paper party hats for all of her animals. I have a blog post coming soon with directions on how to make the paper hats with a free printable.
Food
I absolutely love brunch and I thought that her party would be the perfect time to cook some of my favorite foods! I will have more details on what I did for her party brunch in an upcoming blog post.
I hope when you throw your next birthday party it is party animal themed because it was so fun to decorate and my daughter absolutely loved it!
